A Message from Britney:
I was a single mother of two girls, when I was diagnosed with cancer. January 18th, 2012, at the age of 26, I had my first surgery to remove my thyroid and two lymph nodes on the right side of my neck. After that came radioactive iodine treatment, followed by another surgery, because the cancer started spreading.
In the process I lost my job, I lost my car, I lost my apartment and I kept getting sick. I had to move back home to New Orleans to be close to family for help. I was unable to take care of my kids because of being sick constantly and because I had lost everything. I had to make the hard decision to allow my ex-husband to take the kids until I get better. In September of 2013, my two girls had to leave me and go to California with their father.
Despite everything, 10 months later, I found out that I was pregnant. On August 31st, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy, despite having cancer. Now, I’m on the road to recovery. With everything that occurred in the past 2 years, I am happy to be here and I am blessed to be able to say I AM A CANCER SURVIVOR!
